Hi. I’m Pat Walsh, and this is my website, www.EchoesAmongtheStars.com.

For those of you who have visited this site in the past, I’m happy to welcome you back with some terrific news about my latest writing project: my three volume encyclopedia of space exploration, Spaceflight, has been published by Greenwood Press (an imprint of ABC-CLIO Inc.)!

The three volume, 650,000 word Spaceflight features:

• A Foreword by Dr. Story Musgrave, NASA astronaut 1967-1997 and veteran of six space shuttle missions, including the first spacewalk of the space shuttle program, and the landmark first repair of the Hubble Space Telescope

• 700 A-Z entries covering every human spaceflight and all significant robotic space exploration programs, with hundreds of biographical entries of American astronauts, Russian cosmonauts and many space explorers from countries around the world

• 148 beautiful and historic photographs illustrating all major articles, including international (non-U.S., non-Russian) space programs, action photos showing astronauts and cosmonauts at work in space, and photos of space vehicles and equipment

• Complete chronologies of the space shuttle and Soyuz programs through 2008

You can find all the details on this major development at the Encyclopedia page on this site.

This site began as an online home for information about my first book, Echoes Among the Stars: A Short History of the U.S. Space Program, which was published in 2000 by M.E. Sharpe, Inc. It has since expanded to include information about the cornucopia of projects that I’ve been involved with in recent years.

In addition to my research and writing about the history of space exploration, I’ve also enjoyed a long career as a journalist, publishing hundreds of articles on a wide array of topics.

Following the publication of Echoes Among the Stars, I began work on a number of long-term projects, and have since completed manuscripts for several novels, a full-length musical play and several shorter dramatic works, and a short documentary film. I’ve also continued, sporadically and not nearly as much as I’d like -- to compose music, both as a means of observing and documenting experiences and in support of my other projects.

As if all that weren’t enough, I’ve also worked in the past as a college professor, an Information Systems Manager, and a marketing consultant -- all of which, while not active pursuits of mine at the moment, were activities which I greatly enjoyed and am glad to recall, if even just to tip my cap to all the great people who I worked with and got to know in each of those situations.Space_Encyclopedia.htmlJournalism.htmlEchoes.htmlFiction.htmlDrama.htmlFilm.htmlMusic.htmlTeaching.htmlInfo_Systems.htmlMarketing.htmlshapeimage_1_link_0shapeimage_1_link_1shapeimage_1_link_2shapeimage_1_link_3shapeimage_1_link_4shapeimage_1_link_5shapeimage_1_link_6shapeimage_1_link_7shapeimage_1_link_8shapeimage_1_link_9
