As the author of Echoes Among the Stars, Patrick’s interest in the history of space exploration should be obvious to even the most casual of observers. Beyond the book, however, he has also done a great deal of additional research and writing in this particular subject area.
In perhaps the single largest undertaking of his writing career to date, Pat has completed the manuscript for an Encyclopedia of Space History. The finished work consists of more than 630,000 words, and covers the entire spectrum of humanity’s exploration of space, from the first half of the twentieth century to the present. An intense labor of love for nearly two years, Pat’s Encyclopedia is currently being considered for publication by a major commercial publisher.
Patrick’s other projects related to the history of space exploration include the original version of his Echoes Among the Stars website, which contains
• an illustrated timeline of the “First Era” of space exploration;
• several contributed articles about various aspects of the U.S. space program;
• an Instructor’s Guide to using Echoes as a textbook for classroom instruction.
In addition to his book and website, Pat has also published a number of articles with space-related themes. These include:
• Contributed Comments: “What One Book: The U.S. Space Program,” Bookmarks, January/February, 2007
• Op-Ed: “A New Mission for America in Space,” Journal News, September 24, 2003 Read
• Column: “Recalling the Tragedy of the Space Shuttle,” Peekskill Herald, January 24, 1991 Read
